Answer only if you have experience. I know officers have their own rooms small to eat in the square. What officers? When you reach E-4 and above, have you treated better aboard ships? as carriers with more space, eating toilet cleaning better, cheaper? something different? Thank you for answering.
Not 'til E-7 do barracks and a separate dining special. The exception is that I was on a support, so I do not know if this is true on all vessels, E-6 had a First Master class place to eat. I reported aboard the ship as an E-2 and left 4 years later as an E-5. The only difference between the ranks has been with each grade told me I gained a lot less "monkey work" of cleaning, painting, waxing and received more monitoring functions and technique. I slept in the same rack and eaten on the same messdecks. Edit: I forgot to add that Darryl B is right. You get a sea pay compensation of all ranks now just to be assigned to a ship, and the allocation is growing each and every rank you earn year you have sea time. A nice "extra" is that after three years of being on a boat, you get an extra $ 100 per month added to your allowance sea pay. As an E-2 when I got there my allowance was $ 50 per month. When I started as an E-5 it was $ 480/month
