Need help with 8th grade math problems?!?
1. Three times a number is 18 more than the number. What is the number?
2. The perimeter of a rectangle is 42 meters. The length of the rectangle is 3 meters less than twice the width. Find the length and the width.
3. A postal clerk sold some fifteen-cent stamps and some twenty five-cent stamps. Altogether, 10 stamps were sold for a total of $1.70. How many of each type were sold?
4. Stan has 52 quarters and nickels. He has three times as many nickels as quarters. How much money does he have?
5. x - 4 - 7x = 20. What is x.
6. 8(x + 2) = 5x + 37. What is x.
7. 3(q + 3) = -24. What is q.
8. 3(x + 7) = 19 + 3x
9. 3(x + 2) = 8 + 3x - 2. What is x.
10. 8x - 3(4x - 5) = -2x - 11. What is x.
PLEASE. ANY WAY YOU CAN HELP.
2. 2w + 2L=Perimeter
w=X
L=(x-3)
2x + 2(x-3)=42
4x-6=42 subtract -6 from both sides
4x=48 divide 48 by 4 width = 12
length is 3 meters less than 2*the width, so..
2*12 = 24-3 Length = 21 meters
5. x-4-7x=20 gather like terms
1-7=-6x-4=20
add 4 to both sides
-6=24 then divide
24 by -6 = -4
divide both sides by -1
x=4
the rest of them do the same way treat all your variables in the other problems as you did the x in #5. as you do your equations remember please excuse my dear aunt sally
you can do it, good luck!
