Is that a dilute solution of color in the German shepherd sex related?
For example, all German shepherd liver color photos I've seen are all men ... mutation is the color of a sex-linked mutation?
Only "Nancy M" is on track so far. But back to your terminology correct - the allele is not in the liver series Dilute (d ^ D ^ vs to dilute black to blue-gray), it is in B (^ Black vs. B ^ b for brown). Each color series to date the name is autosomal, meaning NOT in the sex chromosomes. By the way, but not all Geneticists agree with me, I prefer "change" applied to something that is in the first or second generation, because it has changed, "allele" as applied to mutations that have developed 3 or more generations ago. An example is the "Panda" marks - in Franka there is a change (she probably got it from a mutation in a single gonad cell testicular his father, but it could have occurred by the time of fertilization) and those fans are now using his grandchildren, he is an allele drawn as far as I'm concerned. Alleles producing liver and blues have been around as long as you bothered to record the history canine. Problems that occur too often in GSDs with coats incorrect - off-colors or long coats - are entirely due to the policy of the breeder. Even those who CAREFULLY race too high a fault rate for me - good breeders Yank's self-whites established a database of their results - I did not bother it controls, but I'm told that 25% of whites registered there at least one other fault than their white color.
