if you were in panama are you eligible for a combat patch? if so what are they?
i met someone who served in panama and wears like four different combat patches. just want to do some research because i have met at least three other guys who went out there and don't wear anything on there right side
Wearing the SSI-FWTS is is not manditory and just getting stationed in Panama there does not mean you can wear a combat patch. BUT if you were in Panama:
From 20 December 1989 to 31 January 1990 AND (MOST IMPORTANT) Paraticipated in Operation Just Cause you can wear:

Soldiers who participated in the operation whos shoulder sleeve insignia not listed will wear the one from the unit who had operational control, or attached to. If you were not attached to any of the ones listed above you were the SSI of US Army South. Although possible it would be highly unlikely that someone who participated in an operation that lasted around 45 days could wear 4 different combat patches. These days it is highly unlikely that you will meet someone who went to Panama and no other combat zone for the last 18 years....so do your research. As the REG states you have the option of choosing which one you wear (for example you went to OIF and OEF) or you may choose not to wear one at all.
