African american Severe hair breakage?

I recently had a bad dye job. My entire nape is about 2 inches, the sides of my head has some 2 in parts, and at the hairline is equivalent breakage, with some breakage all over my scalp. I cut my hair to about 2-3 inches below my ears/2 ins below my nape, but the breakage is unbearable. I dont want to cut it anymore, but I dont know what to do. I bought Dr. Miracles Hot Gro and I will apply that. How can I get my silky hair back to bra strap length? ALL of it? And what can I do to cover it up in the meantime? SHould I still relax every 6-8 weeks? The last time I went longer without relaxing I had minor breakage and I dont want that anymore. PLease help. BTW I am black, but my hair is not extremely kinky - not too kinky, but not wavy/curly. SOmewhere in the middle of that.

First, you need to get rid of all the damaged hair, even if that means more cutting. Trying to hold on to damaged hair will actually make it worse. Once all the damaged hair is gone you just begin to take care of the hair you have left. Washing with a moisturizing shampoo and deep conditioning once a week, stay away from blow-dryers and flat irons as they can aid in hair breakage. If your hair is recovering from severe breakge heat appliances are the last thing you need. Air dry your hair as often as possible and if you can take try not to flat iron your hair.
A good way to cover up the damage and protect the hair is to wear weave or braids. Cornrows and weaves are good alternatives because they can be washed and conditioned just like your hair. Do not, i repeat DO NOT relax your hair every 6-8 weeks. That is a myth, putting relaxers on to often can also break your hair. Try stretching your relaxer to every 2.5-4 months at a time. If your stylists says you need to get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks then she's wrong. If you take care of your hair washing, deep conditioning, no heat, and etc than you can cut your hair every 3 months like i do and my hair is just fine. My hair is actually bra-strap length, with my next relaxer, after a 3.5 month stretch, will be lower back. So yes, while you will experience breakage at the demarcation point, where the natural and relaxed hair meet, if will be extremely minor if you take care of your hair. Dr. Miracles products are nothing special, using olive oil as a hot oil treatment does the same exact thing except better because its natural.
Before you shampoo, heat up half a cup of olive oil and work through your hair 10-20 minutes before you shampoo for added moisture then rinse out and shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo and then deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner that has some protein in it. On the days you are not washing you just spray your hair with a moisturizer/leave in. I make my own, if you want to know what I put in it email me, this answer is already to long. Sorry!
