I washed a plastic cup with steaming water and it started to smell?
I washed a little plastic cup with hot water that was steaming. After that, I brushed my teeth with it under my chin so I can move around while brushing my teeth. I started smelling something weird and I think it was from the plastic cup. I quickly went to a sink and rinsed my mouth with out using the cup. I went online and read about burning plastic. Is it okay to use anymore?
Plastic is made from petroleum products. Applying a heat source can cause odors to occur afterwards. Whether it is harmful or not, you need to contact the manufacturer of the cup and ask for a Material Safety Data Sheet. Cost wise, this is probably not effective; most likely, it would just be cheaper to buy a new cup.
